BRIEF
POLICIES ON VARIOUS PEOPLE GROUPS
The
CDA has a clear vision and plan to meets the needs and dreams of the
various groups that make up this beautiful country we call South
Africa. Not empty words but real understanding combined with practical
sustainable programmes.
Instead
of short term thinking and publicity stunts, we offer a long term
vision where all peoples can enjoy the benefits and opportunities our
country has to offer. A nation where people are no longer treated as
special projects, but where all barriers to equal access have been
removed and we prosper together within real equal opportunity.

RURAL
COMMUNITIES of
South Africa are the backbone of our agricultural industry and yet are
of the most marginilised of all our peoples. Landlessness,
lack of housing, inadequate economic incentives and a lack of long term
vision for farmers has resulted in economic failure for many of these
areas.
We
as the CDA recognise the contribution of farmers to our nation, as well
as the communities that surround them and pledge to embark upon a
programme that will not only secure teh farming industry, but provide
the neccessary framework for long term economic and scoial development.
This
will include a radical assessment of assistance programmes to farmers,
fast tracking of land and housing issues, provision of economic
incentives for business establishment in our rutal areas, as well as
the implementation of co-operative / kibbutz style farming and other
business initiatives.
Provision
of infrastructure, increased provision of security and policing and
Tourism drives all form part of this programme. Top

YOUNG ADULTS
and youth are our future. The CDA believes firmly that without proper
investment into our young people, we are failing to invest in our
future. Any nation with long term vision should have a vision for its
youth.
The
CDA will establish a values based eductasion system that develops our
young people into men and women of character capable of taking this
country into the next century. Young men and women who know right from
wrong and have the courage to choose what is right.
Extensive
ongoing skills development opportunities linked to the provision of
entrepeneurial skills, lifeskills and provision of employment
programmes to develop experience and business knowledge all form part
of our strategy to empower our youth. Top |
Our
SENIOR CITIZENS
are
the foundation upon which this nation was built and they should get the
respect and reward they deserve. It is they that provided the platform
from which all we now take for granted was launched.
The
CDA acknowledges these men and women and vows to show them the care and
honour befitting them. Under the CDA, the elderly shall be prioritised
for the provision of housing, shall benefit from accessible and
affordable health care and shall receive a pension that guaranteed them
a life of dignity.
We consider
it an insult to
this nation when our elderly have to beg, have to cry out to be
acknowledged and spend their retirement years fighting for survival. We
recognise their experience, wisdom and wealth of knowledge and will
embark on a extensive programme of drawing those who wish to contribute
to our future, into a mentorship programme to assist the next
generation, in the estbalishment of values, business and technical
skills as well as other transferable knowledge. Top |
OUR
WOMEN of
South Africa have been the backbone of our communities for many years,
holding together the fabric of society while the men pursued carreers,
got caught up in the struggle or found themselves displaced as migrant
workers.
It
is they that despite ongoing discrimination, have stood firm and taken
up many new roles in our nation, as political leaders, doctors,
engineers, entrepeneurs and many more new fields hardly entered into
before. The CDA is commutted to removing every last bastion of
discrimination and prejudice, so that all women can follow a life of
their own choosing.
We
also however recognise that those who have chosen to be full time home
carers, fulfill a vital role in the building of our nation. That their
career choice is as important as any other and we reject the notion
that those who do not pursue a calling outside of teh home are less in
any way.
These women are the ones providing counsel, guidance
and wisdom in the streets of our communities while others are away at
usiness. We value you, respect you and thank you too, for your career
choice.
The CDA is committed to providing the neccessary support for the
growth, expectations and aspirations of ALL women. Top |
The DISABLED
of
South Africa continue to face an uphill battle in the recognition of
their rights and the CDA committs itself to
championing their cause. We
find it unacceptable that segments of our community remain sidelined in
achieving equality in access to opportunity.
In
this area particularly, we feel the need to move away from the concept
of "special rights", to a position of barrier removal, whereby those
amongst us with disabilities, rather than being allocated special
treatment, should expect to be part of the normal flow of
society, without prejudice.
The
CDA accepts that this will take an uncompromising committement to this
issue and we rise willingly to that challenge. We also acknowledge that
there are many forms of disability and that a blanket approach will not
solve the problem. We therefore will look to a multi faceted approach
that deals with people as individuals and not as a common
"problem". Top |
Our
UNEMPLOYED
remain one of the most marginilised groups in South Africa and there
seems to be no end in sight for this growing problem. Millions still
find themselves unable to find meaningful employment and therefore
incapable of caring for their families an dreahing their personal drema
sand aspirations.
It is statistically proven that the enemployed
find themslevs at a greater health risk and this ony compounds their
problems as they seldom have access to suitable healthcare when needed.
This
problem is a scourge upon our society and the CDA is committed to
massive programmes of job creation. Not just government funded projects
that create temporary work, but sustainable programmes of
co-operatives, labour intensive production facilities and broader
distribution of government cobntracts to ensure that all get an equal
share, rather than simply a selected few. Our enemployed deserve to
reap the benefits of our new nation and we will fight for them do do so. Top |
The
number of HOMELESS
people, or people living in self constructed shacks is appalling.
Fifteen years into the new South Africa, and government has failed
dismally in providing our people with the most basic of human needs -
shelter.
The
impact of this failure, is far reaching as children have inadequate
places of study, husbands and wives are unable to have close
realtionships, shanty towns become the breeding gorund of gangs and
crime and all of these find themselves without the stability needed to
reconstruct their lives.
The
CDA sees this issues as one of its key priorities and will ensure that
fast tracking of housing delivery, by removing the restrictive red tape
and corruption of current practices, increasing the subsidy to
acceptable levels and utilising free enterprise and alternative housing
technologies. Providing our people with
adequate housing is not negotiable. Top |
Many of our PREVIOUSLY
DISADVANTAGED
are still waiting for housing, jobs, education and other basic
neccesseties of survival in a modern world. Some have maybe received a
RDP home - that one year later is falling apart.Affirmative action
programmes have only benefitted an elite few. Empty promises have done
little for those who have spent a lifetime suffering under apartheid.
The
CDA committs itself to an holistic process of providing justice to
those who have suffered loss or injury. Justice, by means of real
restitution. Providing each and every South African who was
discriminated against under the previous regime with a holistic
programme of settlement that enables them to participate as part of
society and not just beneficiaries of hand outs.
Each
day that goes by and we do not offer restitution, is a day that we turn
our backs on justice and the CDA will ensure that happens no more. No
racist policies such as affirmative action, but real programmes that
can tangibly benefit the beneficiaries. Top |
The
CHILDREN
of our nation derserve our protection, our cherishing and our guidance.
If we fail to protect those who need us th emost, then we have failed
our entire nation. The fact that there are so many marginilised,
homeless and destitute children in South AFrica, is an insult to those
who fought so hard to bring about our freedoms.
The CDA pledges
to make every effort to provide basic shelter, nourishment, eductaion
and opprotunity to every single child. We promise to deal severely with
those who would compromise this and cause harm to our children. And in
this, we include the most helpless of all - the unborn.
We fully
support the introduction of an public sexual offenders list
and
consider the abuse and sexual exploitation of children despicable.
Linked to our economic development programme to assist families, we
will ensure every child is clothed, fed and educated. We vow to fight
on until their is not one emepty belly at a school desk. Not one
shivering child walking home. Top |
Our CULTURAL
GROUPS within South Africa, make up the rich tapestry that
is
this beautiful country of ours. A colourful blend of cultures and
diversity that provides the potential to be a model of unity and
excellence for the world. A potential that has been wasted and abused
by those who wish to divide us.
We
are painted with large immigrant propulations such as the Indian,
Chinese and Portugeuse communities. Decorated with many language groups
such as the Afrikaner, that forms such a large part of our heritage and
development. Highlighted with many unique tribal groups such as the
Khoisan and the Pedi, who bring with them customs and ways guaranteed
to enrich our lives.
But
we are all one. One people before God. One people as citizens of our
nation, One people in the right to practice our culture, our language,
our uniqueness. The CDA will fight to defend this oneness. We will
fight to defend our unity. We reject the concept of race in it's
entirety. We reject that any group is more superior or inferior to
another. Or that we must be seperated in homelands, volkstate or by any
other means. We commit to the protection of language and cultural
rights within the framework of being one nation. Top |
