While
the country settled in and digested what was in many ways, astounding
results, life itself continues. The task we set before ourselves still
awaits our attention. The purpose for which the CDA was established has
not changed. While there was obviously a tinge of dissapointment in the
overall results, we are more than pleased with what we achieved in the
short period we had to establish the CDA as well as gear up for the
elections.
OUR
THANKS
From the leadership, to all those who put in so
much effort. To those who had the audacity to believe in real change
and voted CDA. To all those who kept us vigilantly in your prayers. We
thank you from the bottom of our hearts and can only say, we are proud to be associated
with you. Men and women of commitment who have walked the talk.
RUN
UP TO ELECTIONS
The
CDA leadership, with foresight, recognised way back that a split in the
ANC was imminent. We also recognised that the DA had drifted further
and further into apartheid style marketing and was
using people’s fears to canvas votes. This in our opinion would lead to
two things.
1)
ANC supporters who become lethargic would be re-mobilised as a result
of any split and would flock to the polls, therefore increasing the
number of ANC votes.
2)
People would be conned by the DA fear tactics and instead of voting for
principles they believes in, would forfeit these and vote based on fear.
We
understood only too clearly that the days
of individualistic parties was numbered and that the only
future for Christian politics was from a platform of unity. Out of this
wisdom, the CDA was born.
EMAIL
RECEIVED
Below
is an extract from an Email received, which more than summarises the
current situation in South Africa and clearly highlights the need for
us to stay firm, so that, as God begins to change the hearts of men and
women, we are here for them. Providing a political home to those who
seek God’s face.
“I
had, the day after the elections, rushed off the join the Mighty Men
conference and to be honest was more excited about that, than I was
about our national elections. Like most, I did not realise the
implications of voting – at all!
On
the first morning, I was just caught up in worship and was standing
there in my own thoughts looking at all the people around me. It was as
if scales fell off my eyes and I looked at all of these men and
realised that they, by a vast majority, had the day before, voted in
favour of pornography. That almost all of us, including me, had voted
our support for abortion. I couldn’t believe as I looked around me,
that here was two
hundred thousand men raising their arms to God – one day after turning
their backs on Him.
With
a heavy heart I realised, that as we stood there, we definitely were
not Mighty Men at all – certainly not in the eyes of God. We had failed
him when it counted most. When the Roman soldier asked if we knew
Christ, we had said no. I left that same morning and went back home,
unable to live with my own hypocrisy.
The
following few days God showed me shocking images of what my vote had
helped bring about. Horrible pictures of marriages broken and innocent
unborn being murdered. Amongst many tears I repented and as I did,
amazingly, it allowed God to also open my eyes to so many others areas
of my life that were controlled by my own wisdom – areas where I no
longer served Him but satan.
I
give you today, the same commitment I gave to God – never again will I
vote against Biblical principles. Never again will I deny Christ in any
aspect of my life. Never again will I allow my pride as Christian man
to be taken from me. From this day I vow to become a real Mighty Man –
not in the eyes of man but in the eyes of God.”
THE
WAY FORWARD
There
is only one way – forward – in unity.
Already
we have plans in place, strategies being formulated. We realise that
the fight before us is not an overnight one but one that must be fought
with an eye on the long term prize. Germany’s
ruling Christian Democratic Union did not achieve instant success. Nor
so any of the powerful Christian parties across the globe.
What
it will take is us giving bigger than we have before. Fighting harder
than we have and shouting louder than before. From the CDA leadership,
we can with all honesty say this. Even when there is only one of us
left, that one will continue to stand. Down to the very last breathe of
the very last one, we will remain true.
The
CDA is not in politics simply to win, We are here, every last man and
women because of a commitment to the will of God. There are no
alternatives for us. There are no second choices. To the end, we will
fight this fight – until we see the victory God has promised.
We
are a new political brand – a fresh alternative and the 2009 elections
have made it possible for everyone to know about us. For South Africans
across every province to realise that the CDA has been founded. That
Christians are beginning to unite as one voice politically. That already six different
parties have come together for a common cause.
And
while others view this with apprehension, for you and I it is a moment
of great excitement and a sign of things to come. We all know the
scripture of the prophet Elijah (1 Kings 18:41-45) sending his servant
to look at the skyline for clouds. Upon his return, after seven times -
the servant said he had seen a cloud, the size of a man’s hand – and
Elisha sent a warning take cover - the storms were coming!
To
those who look at the CDA and see a small cloud, we say this. Look with
the eyes of God and take cover – a political storm is coming that will
restore Biblical governance to this nation!
IN
CLOSING
Once
again, to all the voters, all the members, who took a stand for their
faith, we thank you. There is a song that says “Better is one day in
Your house, than a thousand elsewhere.” Just so, better is one vote for
Godly principles than a thousand who compromise. It might not appear so
at face value, but we know that God promises us “As we sow we will
reap.”
When
future generations live in peace and prosperity they will not even
realise it, but you know and God knows, that they will be walking in
the fields made possible by your seeds planted now.
We
leave you with a quote and the knowledge that the situations we face as
a nation were created by following man’s ways and that only God and His
ways are the solution. Man’s wisdom will fail us again – and when it
does they will have to turn somewhere. When they do, the CDA will be
waiting with the answers.
“You
cannot solve a problem with the same thinking that caused the problem.”
- Albert Einstein
